The space
This charming townhouse is within a few minutes walking distance of the beautiful blue flag beach of Salema, the fresh fish restaurants and the centre of this quaint village. The property has been refurbished to a high standard and is bright and welcoming!
On the ground floor, you find the living/dining room with doors opening onto the spacious south-facing patio. The outside area is very private and has ample space for sunbathing, and it is perfect for enjoying your Alfresco dining. There is an open-plan kitchen with a microwave, small oven and electric induction hob. The freezer and washing machine are located in the utility room. On the same level, we also find a bathroom with a shower.
A new staircase leads to the first floor, there are two spacious bedrooms, both with restricted sea views, and one has a small balcony. There is also a high-quality family bathroom.

The neighborhood
Our holiday home is in Salema, a small village close to Lagos. It is very popular amongst golf lovers, families and nature lovers.
A selection of restaurants & bars allows you to explore local and international food. We recommend trying fresh fish and seafood dishes! There is a supermarket 4 minutes away by car. Like Burgau and Praia da Luz, other beaches are just a short drive away. So whether you want to relax, go for a surf or enjoy a fantastic hike in nature, Budens is the place. And if you crave city life at some point, Lagos is only 20 minutes away.
Getting around
You can reach Salema in about one hour by car from Faro Airport, and car rental is available in the airport's parking lot. By train, it will take about 4 to 5 hours.
The best way to travel the Algarvarian coast is by boat or car. However, if you want to explore the area, a (rental) car will make your life much easier as public transport is limited and will also get you around.
Parking is free and abundant everywhere in this area.

Our stay in Salema was so much better than the previous location that it is hard to pick anything. The front door has no front knob and you must keep the house keys with you in order to not let get locked out. The lighting in the main floor was found to be too bright. Perhaps a more moderate illumination would be less harsh and give a warmer atmosphere while dining or reading.

It would be nice if there were beach towels. There is no freezer and the oven is a convection oven on the counter, which worked fine, but be aware if this is important to you.

The location is noisy due to the number of dogs. Unfortunately, this, along with building work being carried out directly opposite, meant it was not possible to sit outside and relax or have a lay in past 7.30am.
Although the latter was outside the control of the owners, it would have been good to have been informed of this at the time of making the booking as I would have stayed else where.

Barking dog next door. No freezer in the fridge. Bedrooms up a steep winding staircase. Very dangerous patio situation. I took a very bad fall on this patio. There is a 20 cm step curving through the middle. Hanging clothes I stepped off and had very bad fall.
Very steep climb to get home from town Center.

Matras waren niet comfortabel (goedkoop). Dubbel bed was niet breed. Er was geen gordijnverduistering en straatlantaarn scheen fel in de kamer. Sliepen niet goed.

It would have been nice if they had provided beach towels since you don’t really have room to pack those in your suitcase. They asked us to be sure to empty all the trash the day we left. It was just one more thing we had to do when we were trying to pack and get out the door. When you’re on vacation, you don’t want to have to remember things like that. It seems like they could have done that when they cleaned the apartment after we left.
Also the wifi wasn’t working when we got there, we finally reset the modem and got it working. It would be helpful to include that in their list of instructions.

Would like a more traditional Portuguese decor. This location looked as if it was deisigned by an American with a "Beach Airbnb" starter kit. Haha Also, they really should have provided basics like shampoo, conditioner, soap, and detergent.
I really appreciated the prompt and accurate help when I called the help line. The woman was excellent at helping me find the rental.

Kitchen cabinet door was falling off and ants in the bathroom when we arrived. We reached out to management and received no response. Salema is a cute tiny town but, the apartment complex was full of weeds.

There wasn’t enough towels in the kitchen and one of the toilets wasn’t working. The shower downstairs needed a good cleaning and was not draining. These are easy problems to fix. We would stay here again.

Parkplatz direkt vor der Tür.
Der Kontakt über das Vermittlungsbüro war ausgesprochen nett und unkompliziert über WhatsApp.
Mir würde es gut gefallen, da das Haus sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet ist, dass man auf Eßservice, Kochutensilien, Gläser und auch auf das Besteck etwas Wert legt.

Few minor details: There's a smell of cat piss in the area where the washing machine is located. There isn't much mood lighting. We were unable to close the shutters so it's very bright during the night. Locking the door is difficult. The kitchen is very illogical (designed by men?). Be carefull not to break your legs over the carpet. You get a lot of emails from the owner to automate the check-inn process and they're a bit unclear. They will ask for your email eg, but you get an error when you fill this out. Apparently you have to fill out your address. So be creative in your answers. But as said, these are minor details.

- de tuin. Heerlijk om buiten te kunnen zitten.
- de bbq. Prachtig ding!
- goed inventaris. Genoeg borden, bestek, er was afwasmiddel en gewoon de kleine dingetjes, heel fijn!
- 2 persoonsbed lag heerlijk
- goede parkeer gelegenheid
- het verblijf was super schoon bij aankomst
- de inrichting was erg leuk
- de boiler stond uit. In de welkom gids stond hier helaas niets over vermeld, dat zou wel fijn zijn. Het duurde een paar koude douches voordat we door hadden dat er een boiler was.
- de sloten. De sloten op de deuren zijn oud, doen het niet of gaan stuk als je het wilt gebruiken. Een van onze gasten heeft snachts vast gezeten in de badkamer en werd pas bevrijd na 1,5 uur toen de brandweer ter plaatse was.
- de tuin deur. De tuin deur kan niet dicht. Er zit wel een slot op maar hij valt niet in het slot zeg maar. Zodra het een beetje waait (wat het heel veel doet op deze locatie) gaat de deur gelijk open
- windschermen in de tuin. De tuin is omringt door een stene muur met windschermen daarop. Eén van de schermen lag op de grond toen we aankwamen omdat hij niet goed paste.
- bbq. De bbq artikelen waren allemaal verroest.
