The neighborhood
Burgau is a quiet fishing village, situated between Lagos and Sagres. Sheltered from the wind by the cliffs on a small cove is the lovely Praia do Burgau. It is an excellent base for a relaxing beach holidays or exploring the beautiful Western Algarve. It has some amazing restaurants and bars facing the sea, and there are several other beautiful beaches in the area to explore. If your idea of the perfect holiday is to relax in the sun and swim in the sea, this village will provide everything your heart desire.
Three golf courses are within 15 minutes drive, as are many of the Algarve's best surfing beaches. Only 8 kilometres from the historic town of Lagos with its lively nightlife, bustling yacht marina and a huge variety of shops, cafes and restaurants. Other things to do in the area include surfing, fishing, diving, golf, tennis and hiking.
Getting around
Although public transport is available in the area, it is limited. If you really want to explore the area, a (rental) car will make your life a whole lot easier. Free street parking is available all throughout and around town.

Nette kleine Wohnung mit Wohn- und Schlafzimmer, mit seitlichem Meerblick vom Balkon. Es gab einen Heizradiator, was zu der Jahreszeit sehr gut war. Die Lage ist super, mitten im Ort, 1 min zum Meer und direkt am Platz kann man morgens seinen Café trinken & ein kleines Frühstück nehmen.

This was a lovely place to stay in an amazing location just a 2 minute walk form the beach with a view of the sunset over the beach from the balcony. It had everything we needed and the bed was super comfy! This was the perfect place to relax after a day of hiking, exploring or sitting on the beach. Thank you!!

Nice property. 2min walk to the beach/sea. Nice morning swims. Lovely little village. All Restaurants/Cafes/ Bars 1-5 min walk away. Best fresh fish/ seafood nearby. All the lovely Algarve spots max. 1 hour drive away.

Die Lage der Unterkunft war sehr schön und auch die Kommunikation war super und freundlich Die Unterkunft hatte einen keine Wäscheleine/Wäscheständer was ein wenig mühsam war. Der Balkon war ein wenig kleiner als wir ihn uns vorgestellt haben.

The listing was definitely as described! Our only difficulty was initially checking in— we had trouble trying to figure out how to open the initial green gate, and realized we had to put our hands through the gate to press a button to open the gate from the inside. Aside from that, we were already warned about some construction next to the listing but it really didn’t interrupt our stay! (Just a little dusty).
Definitely a great location right next to the beach, and no difficulty in finding parking. Great places to eat that we could walk to. The apartment was clean overall with everything listed in the packet we received in an email beforehand, just remember to buy soap for the shower!

Burgau is a quaint seaside village. There is ongoing construction immediately in front of the unit , which has blocked the sea view from the balcony. It is extremely noisy and dusty, which meant that we didn't have use of the balcony, we couldn't open any windows and we had no quiet downtime in the unit between 8am and 7pm. Note also that the bed is a double bed, not 2 singles. There is a sleeper couch in the lounge.

Viajei para descansar e foi impossível com o barulho das obras desde as 08h00 as 17h00.

Schöne kleine Wohnung in Meernähe. Die Wohnung beinhaltet alles was man für einen Aufenthalt braucht, inkl. kleinen Balkon für das Frühstück in der Sonne. Sie liegt keine zwei Minuten vom Strand entfernt und zu Restaurants/Cafés. Leider wird der Blick zum Meer von einer Baustelle verdeckt.

The location is excellent, just a 2 minute walk to the beach. The apartment is spacious and well appointed with a lovely patio overlooking a courtyard. There are a choices of restaurants very nearby. Parking can be difficult on a nice day.

El departamento está perfectamente equipado. Es un 10 Lamentablemente el departamento está rodeado por dos obras en construccióna escasos 3mts de distancia.
Los obreros trabajaban de 8 a 19hs, por lo que a las 8am ya había ruidos de martillos, fierros, gritos.
De saberlo de antemano no hubiese reservado.
No pude trabajar remotamente debido al ruido, tampoco dormir más allá de las 8am, ni volver a almorzar.
El ruido es ensordecedodor.

Im Appartment selbst war alles bis auf eine lockere Steckdose ok und wir haben uns wohl gefühlt. Die Sicht auf das Meer war allerdings beeinträchtigt, vor allem durch eine grotesk chaotische Baustelle, von der nichts im Inserat stand. Einerseits waren wir amüsiert, weil wir so etwas noch nie gesehen hatten, andererseits war man auf dem kleinen Balkon, der mehr in einen Innenhof schaute, doch ziemlich beeinträchtigt. Gott sei Dank wurde fast die ganze Zeit nicht gearbeitet, sonst wäre es sehr problematisch geworden.

Het appartementencomplex was mooi. Ook het appartement zelf was prima. We hadden pech dat er van ‘s ochtends 09:15 tot 16:45 vlak voor en onder ons balkonnetje werd verbouwd gehakt en gebroken en met een machine door het kleine straatje werd gereden. Dat was echt heel jammer. We hebben wel 20% reductie gekregen en mochten 1 dag eerder weg. Die dag hebben we terug gekregen. Dat was netjes van de organisatie en host.

This was a very good, clean and cosy accommodation with a balcony that has a view, very near to the beach (the beach is also very nice, with clear water and not too crowded). The apartment had different things one might need for a beach (towels, big umbrella, etc.) It has a kitchen with all amenities which we used to prepare our meals. The village itself is very peaceful and beautiful, which is much better than staying in Lagos, with good small grocery shops and bakery. There is public transportation in the village to Lagos and other cities, as well as hiking trails. There was only one disadvantage to the accommodation- the hosts where unresponsive to our messages during our stay. Overall, this is a very nice accommodation that we enjoyed, although it would be better if communication improved.

The instructions received about the arrival were much more complicated than it could have been. The key was not there as mentioned prior to our arrival, but we found it easily. Only the picture about the house allowed to identify the address. The appart is nice, well situated, quite and clean. It took a while until I understood that the water heating was not switched on at our arrival. The shower tube was broken, but in a certain position we could use it w/out any issue. The house is managed by a company, we missed the flexibility and the direct contact ( each time an other person responded), but we got fair and prompt reply.

Die Ortschaft ist wunderschön, die Wohnung selbst vielleicht 100m zu Fuß vom Strand entfernt. Das Mobiliar ist älter, es fehlt jedoch an nichts. Sauber war es größtenteils, vielleicht hier und da mal ein paar Kleinigkeiten. Perfekt für einen entspannten Standurlaub mit guter Bus-Anbindung an die nächst-größere Stadt.

Burgau is a very nice small village, without big hotels which makes it more authentic and relaxing. The appartement is 2 min from the beach and we really enjoyed the view of the sea from the balcony. We were very happy to be there :)

View and location was great for a 4 day surf focussed vacation in the Algarve. Bed and pillows was not exactly plush but all in all a really nice, convenient place to stay and use as a home base. FYI, we had a rental car and found it easiest to park a block or two away, where the streets and parking spaces were a bit more accommodating.

Die Lage der Wohnung ist sehr gut. Vom Balkon, vom Badezimmer und sobald man vor die Tür tritt, hat man einen Blick aufs Meer. Zu Fuß ist man in weniger als zwei Minuten an einem schönen Strand. Zwei kleine Supermärkte und viele Restaurants sind fußläufig in wenigen Minuten erreichbar. Die Kommunikation mit den Vermietern war sehr gut (auch am Sonntag). Ein kaputter Toaster wurde unverzüglich ersetzt. Einziger Minuspunkt war, dass die Wohnung und vor allem die Polstermöbel nach Rauch gerochen haben.
