The neighborhood
This cozy cluster of four flats is nestled on a tranquil, narrow lane in Burgau. While there isn't designated parking, you'll typically find convenient parking just meters from the flat entrance.
Within a mere 100 meters, you'll discover a small convenience store, a local pizzeria, a daily bakery, and a delightful array of at least five quality restaurants to explore on foot.
Burgau, a serene fishing village, is idyllically situated between Lagos and Sagres. Nestled in a sheltered cove and protected from the wind by imposing cliffs, Praia do Burgau beckons with its charming beauty. This village serves as an ideal hub for either a leisurely beach retreat or an adventure-filled exploration of the stunning Western Algarve. You'll find an array of superb seaside dining options, and there are numerous other picturesque beaches waiting to be discovered in the vicinity. If your dream vacation involves basking in the sun and frolicking in the sea, Burgau will fulfill your every desire.
Within a 15-minute drive, you'll have access to three golf courses and some of the Algarve's most renowned surfing beaches. All in all this is a good place to spend a couple of days but the double bed needs a new mattress and the description of the kitchen is quite exaggerated.

Absolutely loved our stay it was exactly as described beautiful area walking distance to gawjus beach we fell in love with the area for a quiet peaceful holiday I highly recommend will definitely be going back and staying at same place thankyou. We did lots of sightseeing as we had hire car and if you wanted busier places Lagos was only 17 mins drive perfect location.

Unfortunately, the apartment did not meet our expectations. The description and photos do not reflect the actual condition or size of the space — it felt more like staying in a camper than in a proper apartment. The place was not thoroughly cleaned when we arrived (there were feces stains in the toilet and sand on the floor), and we had to clean it ourselves. One of the mattresses was so worn out it had a deep dip of around 30 cm and was unusable. The so-called double bed was barely wider than a single. Soundproofing was poor — we were woken up at 4 am by furniture being moved upstairs. Hot water ran out quickly, the kitchen was sparsely equipped, none of the doors closed properly, and there were stains on the textiles. Overall, we don’t think this apartment is suitable for short-term rental in its current condition.

The property was as advertised and the view was beautiful. The keyless entry was super easy. Easily walkable to the beach and restaurants. The one critique I have is that the mattress in the double bed was not great. It sort of dipped into the middle. Other than that, I would totally recommend this apartment.

Très bel appartement, bien situé et très propre, proche de toutes les commodités du village. Balcon vue mer avec table et chaises, appartement très bien équipé (machine à laver, four, machine a café, smart TV,...). Salle de bain petite mais fonctionnelle. Seule la literie de la chambre parental est à améliorer, le matelas est de très mauvaise qualité. Nous avons passé un excellent séjour !

Wir hatten einen guten Aufenthalt. Die Wohnung ist wie auf den Bildern beschrieben. Die Matratze im Doppelbett war leider nicht unser Fall aber wir konnten in das zweite Schlafzimmer ausweichen und auf den Betten viel besser schlafen. Ich habe einige Tage noch remote gearbeitet und hatte überhaupt keine Probleme bzgl. der Internetvervindung.
Die Wohnung ist sehr zu empfehlen. Burgau ist sehr klein aber auch süß, mit einigen leckeren Restaurants und Cafés.

We loved Burgau and its vibe! Owen’s place is well situated in a quiet part of the village but close to everything. As other reviewers have mentioned, the place itself could use a bit of TLC, but it had everything we needed for our 3-night stay.

Schöne Lage am Strand. Burgau ist wirklich sehr schön! Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis des Apartments passte leider nicht. Es roch sehr muffig. Vorallem die Vorhänge brauchen unbedingt eine Wäsche! Die Küche war nicht gut ausgestattet. Es wurden keine Kaffekapseln für den Aufenthalt bereitgelegt, kein Zewa, nur 1 Pad für die Waschmaschine. Insgesamt ist die Einrichtung etwas in die Jahre gekommen und wild zusammengewürfelt. Die Betten waren nicht wirklich Komfortabel.Ich hatte nicht das Gefühl, dass das Apartment gut geputzt war. Die Reinigung des Badezimmers ließ zu wünschen übrig. Kalk und Schimmel. Und vom Deckenventilstor vielen Staubmäuse runter. Dafür war der Preis des Apartments zu hoch.

Schöne Unterkunft in guter Lage zum Strand und Restaurants.
Balkon sehr schmal aber zu zweit gut nutzbar. Rollladen im Wohnbereich bei Ankunft defekt und eingeschränkter Zugang zum Balkon, wurde aber am Folgetag nach Absprache während unserer Abwesenheit repariert. Matratze sehr weich.

We loved the apartment! It was well equipped, in a good location and easily accessible.
Only two downsides:
The mattress in the bedroom facing the balcony was way too soft to get a good nights sleep.
And the blinds of the balcony door of the living room was broken, so you could only access the balcony via the bedroom and it was a bit dark in the living room because of that. But I’m sure that can be fixed easily.

Все было чисто, необходимое есть, хоть и старенькое.
Это был самый ужасный опыт, спать на кроватях невозможно, матрас очень старый, продавленный, спина если не двадцать, просто не выдерживает. В детской комнате один матрас не входит в по размерам в кровать, лежит криво. Но хоть можно спать на ровном, у дивана с одной стоны в зале сломанный подлокотник( вмятый).
Зря не обратила внимание на отзыв предыдущего года (понадеялась, что проблемы решаются в этом объекте, потому что уже писали про матрасы). Но !!!! но ничего не изменилось, к великому сожалению. Сейф, как оказалось, тоже не в рабочем состоянии.
В ванной на полу собирается вода, скорее всего из под умывальника. Потому что не используя душ, а только раковину, она продолжала появляться.
Весь отпуск был испорчен, каждый день встаешь разбитым. Мы не выдержали и уехали на день раньше, переночевав в другом месте.
Расположение на любителя(нам - не проблема), брали машину и все время перемещались. Если вы не очень активны, то здесь семьей вам не будет удобно.
Пляж скучный, для разового посещения. Все интересное на удалении от объекта на расстоянии до часа езды.

Schon vor dem Check in erhält man ein mehrseitiges Dokument mit do‘s und dont‘s zur Unterkunft. Ebenfalls ist dort aufgeführt, was im Mietpreis enthalten ist. Unter anderem 2 Rollen Klopapier…
In der Wohnung hat uns dann auch erwartet, was dort aufgeführt war. Aber leider ist das alles irgendwie nicht, wie man sich das bei einem air bnb vorstellt. Da kann man sich gleich eine „gewöhnliche“ Ferienwohnung suchen. Die Ausstattung der Wohnung war gut. Das Bett leider für 2 Erwachsene etwas klein und die Matratze recht durchgelegen. Vom Balkon hat man schönen Meerblick, aber er ist so schmal, dass man zu zweit eigentlich nur hintereinander sitzen kann. Die Lage ist perfekt. Man ist in wenigen Gehminuten am Strand. Im Ort gibt es mehrere gute Restaurants sowie kleine Supermärkte. Leider war ein muffiger Geruch in der Wohnung und es war leider nicht ganz sauber (Flecken auf einem Handtuch, Sand und Haare am Boden)

This was perfect for my time in Algarve. The apartment is spotlessly clean, with everything I needed. The balcony did not disappoint! Bed was comfy (nice linens!). The location is great - easy walk to everything. The view out over the ocean, the quiet peaceful nights - I loved it!

The location is great with a lovely view over the village and the sea. The apartment is extremely well equipped. We appreciated being allowed to have an early check-in, but unfortunately this was offset when the door code did not work. However, after several back and forth communication we were given the code for a lock box key. We stayed for two weeks but were disappointed not to be provided with a change of sheets and towels. Despite these negatives we really enjoyed our stay and would warmly recommend the place. The beach and restaurants are great and the local supermarket met all our needs.

Schöne Wohnung, wunderbar gelegen in sehr hübschem Ort. Die Küche ist gut ausgestattet , aber schon etwas in die Jahre gekommen. Zu zweit viel Platz, wenn man jedoch beide Schlafzimmer nutzen will, wird es knapp mit dem Platz fürs Gepäck. Die Betten im Hauptschlafzimmer sind sehr weich, das muss man mögen.

Die Wohnung hat alles was es braucht und ist in einem guten Zustand. Der Blick vom schmalen Balkon (es können hier nur 2 Personen hintereinander sitzen) geht mehr zum Örtchen als zum Meer, aber man kann es sehen. Der Ort ist ideal zum Baden, Wandern und Entspannen und man findet Einkaufsmöglichkeiten gleich um die Ecke. Leider war die Matratze des Elternzimmers äußerst weich. Wir hatten starke Rückenschmerzen nach der ersten Nacht. So sind wir ins Kinderzimmer mit zwei Einzelbetten umgezogen, wo es deutlich bessere Matratzen gab und unser Kind kam in den Genuss des schöneren Zimmers mit großem Bett und Balkonanschluss.

Der Aufenthalt war toll. Man kommt rein und fühlt sich gleich wie zu Hause. Die Wohnung war sehr sauber. Wir haben die Morgensonne auf dem Balkon mit dem schönen Blick über die kleine Stadt Burgau und das Meer jeden Tag aufs Neue genossen. An Ausstattung hat uns nichts gefehlt. Die Wohnung liegt sehr ruhig und der Strand ist fußläufig innerhalb 3 Minuten erreichbar. WLAN funktioniert einwandfrei.
Die Matratze im Doppelbett war etwas zu weich für uns.

What an amazing stay in an incredible Algarve village. Burgau was the perfect spot and this place was fantastic! There was a local market and bakery within steps of the place and the village restaurant options were incredible - whether you wanted local Portuguese fare or something else - it was all within a short walk. The apartment was perfect for our party of three and spacious with a great view of the water and the beach just a short walk. Owen was always in touch via text and full of suggestions and ideas for our stay and made sure we had what we needed. Four days in the Algarve better than this are hard to find!

Owen ist ein sehr netter und zuvorkommender Gastgeber. Es hat uns an NICHTS gefehlt. Im Gegenteil, es waren sogar kleine Start-Ups für uns im Kühlschrank. 🥰 🍻 🍪

I highly recommend staying at Owen's place! The location is amazing; easy parking on the street, but close enough that you can walk down right to the beach / grocery store / restaurant, etc. The apartment felt so comfortable that we ended up cooking must of our dinners at home after our daily excusrsions to the surrounding beaches. The host was very attentive, leaving delicious snacks for our arrival, and beach toys for my little ones to use during our stay. He was also very helpful with his local recommendations, and super flexible when came time to coordinate our check-out.

Owen was an absolutely amazing host. From our check in to our check out, Owen was always available and always helpful and responsive. Not only did he make us feel welcome from the moment we arrived but he anticipated our needs and responded before we could ask any questions. Place is cozy with a terrific view. Being able to use the top floor terrace was a huge bonus. We will absolutely stay here again!

What a great apt!! We had a very nice homey yet vacationey experience. extremely clean and Owen very interested in your well-being. communication was instantaneous. Balcony, views, really nice beach, lots of restaurants accessed on foot in little village area. Little walking alleyways like a maze. Sagres Fortress only 30 minutes away. Just an incredible place..HIGHLYrecommended!!!!!

My husband and I stayed for 4 nights and 3 days at Owen’s place and we were not disappointed! He helped arrange a taxi on our way in from the train station and offered excellent recommendations for restaurants and activities. This is a great location and the town of Burgau is perfect if you are looking for a low key getaway. 5 star recommendation!

Owen's place is a great find. It is clean, private, has all the amenities you need. There is a great view and you are a minute or two walk to the beach!
Owen is an excellent host. He has easy check-in but is also himself readily available.

Excellent location in Burgau, we chose the village on a whim and didn’t regret it one bit. Lovely community with plenty of restaurants and bars nearby. Beach in walking distance and Lagos just a short drive.

We really enjoyed staying in this lovely flat! There is everything you need, especially the kitchen is very well equipped. The beach is just 5min away down the street and if you like to be active - there's a hiking trail along the coastline, it literally starts around the corner.
You can use the rooftop terrace, but it's shared so possibly you have to find an arrangement with the neighbours. The village is adorable, there are lots of restaurants & coffee shops around and cute places to see, I can highly recommend it.

Owen's place is very clean and comfortable with everything you would need for a relaxing break in Burgau. I particularly appreciated the beach towels and sun shades as there are no sunbeds on the beach. The location is perfect for the restaurants, shops and beach. We visited ❤ Burgau restaurant twice which was excellent.

We couldn’t have chosen a better place to stay. We strolled down for a sunrise swim on the beach every morning and walked back up in our towels. We had breakfast on our balcony and had some lovely meals right around the corner. Owen was a great help with food suggestions too!
The place was spotless and so cosy and warm in the evenings. We had everything we needed in the kitchen to cook and there was a supermarket just down the street.

Wonderful place. This is a very small town, and If you prefer the small seaside town vibe, this is the place. Owen says 5 minutes to the beach, but that's only if you stop for coffee along the way. It's more like 1 minute.
I visited other nearby towns and 100% prefer Burgau.
There are a few cafes, restaurants, and bars. Charming pedestrian alleyways.

Great place above the beach. Small town but lots of bars and restaurants nearby. Nice view of the beach pleasant 5 minute walk down the hill. Great space with good kitchen, beds and bath. We would definitely stay there again.

A lovely light and airy appartment on the first floor with a great layout and location. The balcony is a lovely spot to look out over Birgau and the sea whilst having breakfast . A little grocery store as well as a wine shop are within easy distance as are several restaurants and tucked away bars. the gorgeous beach and beach bar are also a 5 minute stroll away. Owen the host communicated well and made us feel very welcome. He was also quick to let us know about a left item (small phone adapter) showing how thorough the cleaning is!
There is a communal top floor balcony ( be aware if booking the top flat) for sun lovers.

We really scored in selecting this apartment in Burgau. Location was perfect. The view was stunning and the access to the top floor with a panoramic view was an added bonus. Apartment was ideal for two and would work well for four. All amenities were good and no problems. Owen was very good at communicating with us and provided many recommendations during g our stay. We enjoyed a wonderful and challenging hike from Burgau to Salema. Unbelievable scenery. Burgau was a great choice for us to experience the Algarve. We highly recommend and we hope to be back in 2023!
