The space
Our sunny villa is located on the outskirts of Salema, offering you a quiet, private space without being in the middle of nowhere. The villa has a large private garden surrounding the house. On the spacious upper outdoor terrace, you’ll find a cozy bench with stunning views, and an extended pergola featuring a comfortable lounge seating area, perfect for relaxing in style.
It is decorated in a rustic style to make you feel right at home from the moment you step in. At the same time, the modern equipment gives you luxury and comfort. This villa has everything you and your family might need.
This villa sleeps 6 adults + 2 children in 3 separate bedrooms.
Bedroom 1: 2 single beds 90 x 200 (put together)
Bedroom 2: 2 single beds 90 x 200 (put together)
Bedroom 3: kingsize bed (180x200) and sofa bed for 2 kids

The neighborhood
Our holiday home in Budens, a small village close to Lagos. It is very popular amongst golf lovers, families and nature lovers.
A selection of restaurants & bars are there for you to explore both local and international food. We recommend trying fresh fish and seafood dishes! There is a large supermarket 4 minutes away by car. The beach of Salema is a 4 minutes drive. Other beaches like Burgau and Praia da Luz, are just a short drive away. Whether you want to relax, go for a surf or enjoy an amazing hike in nature, Budens is the place to be. And if you do crave the city life at some point, the city of Lagos is only 20 minutes away.
Getting around
You can reach Budens in about one hour by car from Faro Airport and car rental is available in the parking lot of the airport. By train it will take about 4 to 5 hours.
The best way to travel the Algarvarian coast is by boat or car. If you really want to explore the area, a (rental) car will make your life a whole lot easier as public transport is limited but will also get you around.
Parking is free and abundant everywhere in this area.

Forgot that it was for 6 people, and only has 2 bedroom ready. Ths sofa was not ready for the extra 2 persons.
The house cleaning was very poor. We add to clean the livingroom and the kitchen.
The TV was not working and they did nothing to correct it.
I ask for a review of the price and got no answer so far.

Outdoor space was great, beautiful views across the hills and very peaceful street so no noise while we were there.
Nearby campsite is a 5-10 mins walk from the house, handy for using the restaurant/shop there or takeaway pizzas :)
Easy access to local beaches and bigger towns (like Lagos) by car. Supermarkets and restaurants nearby too.
Everything you need in the house if you want to make lunch, dinner, etc.

The property could do with some more mosquito protection. We could not leave the bedroom windows open at night and were torn by either being sleepless from being too warm or from being kept awake by mosquitos.
Though they responded quickly to our messages, the company managing the property seemed a little out of touch with the place. Garbage bins were not there, one of the keys in the deposit box was broken, and items they told us were not available in the property turned out to be there after all.
So overall, good stay, but could with a bit of lovin’ and better mosquito defenses.

Manque un lave vaisselle ! Trop de vent, impossible de pouvoir utiliser la terrasse. Attention !!! Pas de parking et la rue est un véritable chantier …et manque d’étanchéité sur la porte de l’étage qui laisse toute sorte d’insecte. Enfin pas de connexion TV .

Too many bugs which made the outdoors unusable and therefore unable to open the windows at night making it very hot inside with a struggling air conditioner for only the living room. No fans available for the bedrooms. Bathrooms were clean, but musty smelling.

For future guests, please note that the house is in the country side. This has mostly advantages but it does mean a higher chance of mosquitos, flies etc. They come and go and if it gets really bad you can always contact us to see if anything can be done, but it is part of the Portuguese countryside and cannot be completely prevented.

The host mentions a bit of dampness in the description which we also experienced. There was a degree of mustiness in some areas of the house that activated some of my allergies.
The boiler wasn’t working when we first arrived which I believe caused/exacerbated some of the dampness issues, so we weren’t able to have hot water for the first day. The host was extremely responsive and quick to fix the issue.
Other than that, amazing stay. We enjoyed spending time all over Algarve and returning to this comfortable home.

Some irritation ensued around a new construction site close by, that compromises the "alone feel". At least from the pictures it was also not clear that the house is mostly facing north which is great in summer but we felt chilly in March.

Big enough for a single family, as advertised.
Location is perfect for the numerous south and west coast beaches!
In terms of amenities a bit basic for the price we paid (high season), couple quick fixes will do the trick. If maintained well, this place will continue to be great!

We were staying there from November 1 till 21. The cold season. And cold and moist is what this house is all about. It is situated that you only have a few hours of sun in the morning. The rest of the day it’s totally in the shadows. When the wind blows from the North (the coldest winds) it lies totally exposed …
Upon our arrival the central heating blew and even after several tries to have it repared, it still wouldn’t work. So we tried to heat the house with the two electrical heaters, because wood for the fireplace was only brought on November 15 …
Anything you’d expect from a house away from home wasn’t met: coziness, warmth, a bit of sun and a nice view … it just wasn’t there.
On top of that, they are building a house right nextdoor and WiFi coverage was really poor.
So unfortunately no recommendations from us for this Salema House with Valley view!
