The neighborhood

De house boat is located in harbour 'De Oude Werf', just 15 min. walking from the center of Aalsmeer and a large supermarket. You will be staying next to a large lake area where you can swim, kayak, and experience many other water sport activities. The banks of the lake are riddles with harbour areas, bars/restaurants with terraces and recreation areas.

Aalsmeer is an old eel fishing town on the banks of the Westeinderplassen. With a rich history it is now a characteristic town with lovely lake views from the marinas. The town has a small but fun center where you can go to shop or to enjoy a drink in the town harbour. There is an outdoor market every Tuesday. Also to be found in Aalsmeer: a casino, horti-culture and flower art museum and a number of great restaurants. Not to forget; the biggest flower (tulips!) auction of the country, which is still functional.

Do you want to discover the lake? You are free to use our 2 kayaks and 2 Stand Up Paddleboards with paddle! You can access the lake from our area within minutes. The kayaks/SUPs are made available from May until October. Using them is at your own risk. Damages (to the kayak, SUP, or to personal items) are your own responsibility and using the kayaks/SUPs during bad weather conditions (heavy wind, rain, or thunder) is forbidden.

The interconnected lakes have a total area of over 10km2 and exist of one large lake, one smaller lake and hundreds of small islands within them. It's a great experience to navigate the lakes and small waterways that connect them and the islands.

Getting around

Aalsmeer is only a 15 minute drive from Schiphol Airport and by train and bus it will take you about 20. In general, public transport will get you around quite well. We will share a handy website to plan your route!

You can park your (rental) car right next to the boat.

Die Ankuft verlief ohne jegliche Vorfälle, da die Anreise Informationen sehr detailliert und gut zu verstehen sind. Somit war das finden des Hausbotes, sowie die Einfahrt, sehr einfach. Es ist ein schönes Hausboot, mit leichter Schieflage, aber ich fand es vollkommen in Ordnung. Die Unterkunft war sehr sauber und es waren reichlich Handtücher vorhanden. Bettzeug war für 1 Person auch reichlich vorhanden (3 Kopfkissen, 2 Bettdecken), welche natürliche auch bereits bezogen waren.Das einzige was zu bemängeln wäre, ist dass manche Möbel, z.b. die Couch und der Sessel im Wohnbereich, erneuert werden sollten, da diese bereits sehr durch gessesen sind. Und das die Fotos der Unterkunft aktualisiert werden, der Schlafbereich war bei mir etwas anders, als auf dem Foto zu sehen, aber an sich, war dies nicht so schlimm.

Dans l'ensemble le logement est tout à fait correct et propre. Il est situé dans un très mignon petit quartier.

Le seul bémol c'est que nous avions bien demandé deux jeux de draps pour pouvoir dormir sur le canapé lit. Avant notre arrivée nous avions eu confirmation que c'était OK et que les deux couchages étaient préparés. Malheureusement à notre arrivé nous n'avions pas de draps pour le canapé-lit et une fois déplié il n'était vraiment pas propre. Avec des restes de chips et d'apéritifs...

C'est dommage car le reste du logement était vraiment niquel !

Par contre point positif l'agence a été très reactive. On nous a envoyé quelqu'un un dimanche à 21h avec des draps et couette que je puisse dormir.

Mais j'ai du nettoyer le canapé, faire l'aspirateur etc... donc je ne peux pas mettre 5 étoiles.

Mais mis à part ça c'était vraiment top.

Nettes kleines Boot, ruhige Lage
Amsterdam,Rotterdam, Den Haag und Co unter einer Stunde Fahrt entfernt.
Leider kein Thermostat für Heizung und nur eine dünne Bettdecke, also im Frühling/Winter warme Klamotten einpacken :)
Ansonsten kleines aber fein und gutes Preis-Leistung Verhältnis

Het bed sliep heerlijk. Keuken was volledig ingericht. Badkamer is prima. De omgeving is heerlijk rustig. Verwarming werkt goed.
Dat de ark heel scheef hangt. Daarnaast was het gangpad van woonkamer naar keuken smal door een kast.
Bedbank zat niet goed. Geen tv. De beamer deed het niet op mobiel of laptop.
Mis goede gordijnen. We hadden gelukkig een eigen gordijn mee.

Det er en super hyggelig hus, med mange gamle fine ting.
Her er mere hygge end det er praktisk, i stuen er der en stor lænestol, som er superflot men helt elendig at sidde i.
Vi hørte flyvemaskinerne men var kun få gange generet af dem .
Det var dejligt at side på terrassen og kigge på kanalen.

I would just like to leave a suggestion, the tea box is made of plastic, and it was on top of the oven, we used the oven and didn't pay attention to the box, so in the end, it melted a little, because we saw it in time, but it would be important to pay attention to this detail, so you can avoid any future accidents. Put the tea box inside the cupboard.

Das Hausboot liegt schön und man kommt von dort überall schnell hin.
Matratze war für uns zu weich aber das ist halt Geschmackssache.

Die grundsätzliche Ausstattung der Küche war sehr gut, es gab deutlich mehr, als wir zu zweit gebraucht hätten, obwohl wir doch häufiger gekocht haben. Salz war in großen Mengen vorhanden und auch ein paar andere Gewürze wurden wohl von vorherigen Gästen hinterlassen. Der Kühlschrank ist ausreichend groß für zwei Personen und es gibt einen extrigen Gefrierschrank mit drei oder vier Schubläden. Der Beamer mit Leinwand war auch super. Zum Lüften war es sehr nützlich, dass man mit der Eingangstür und der Schlafzimmertür Durchzug bekommen hat. Weil es an diesen Türen keine Möglichkeit gab, einen Fliegenschutz zu nutzen, wie es bei zwei anderen Fenstern im Wohnzimmer der Fall ist, haben wir nachts die Türen geschlossen und mit dem vorhandenen Ventilator für die im Juli dringend notwendige Luftbegweung in der Nacht gesorgt. Denn wie für ein Hausboot erwartbar, wurde es mit ein bisschen Sonne sehr schnell sehr warm und drückend in den Räumen. Das Bad ist zwar sehr klein, war aber recht ordentlich und hat für unsere Zwecke gereicht. Die Lage am See ist sehr schön, das paddeln mit dem Stand up Paddelboard hat viel Spaß gemacht, allerdings gibt es nur Paddel für die Boards und nicht auch beidseitige Paddel für die zwei vorhandenen Kayaks.
Die gesamte Ausstattung hat doch schon sehr deutliche Gebrauchsspuren.
Große Menschen, oder auch Personen mit mehr als 45cm Körperdurchmesser, würden sich wahrscheinlich etwas eingeengt fühlen. Wer Probleme mit schrägen Böden im Alltag hat, sollte sich den Aufenthalt hier auch gut überlegen.
Die Sauberkeit war ok, aber hier wird die große Ausstattung zum Nachteil, da es wahrscheinlich eher unrealisitisch ist, alle Küchengeräte nach jedem Aufenthalt von Gästen gründlich zu reinigen. Der Wasserkocher und die Mikrowelle waren schon sehr dreckig, ersteres haben wir dann selber gründlich gereinigt, letzteres haben wir dann einfach nicht genutzt. Den Backofen haben wir leider nicht angeschaut, aber auch nicht benötigt. Wir waren 9 Tage auf dem Hausboot und haben dafür pro Person 1 kleines und 1 großes Handtuch gestellt bekommen. Da es, anders als auf der Website angegeben, keine Waschmöglichkeit vor Ort gibt und der nächste Waschsalon laut Maps im Süden von Amsterdam ist, würden wir das Mitbringen eigener zusätzlicher Handtücher empfehlen. Eine Wäscheleine zum Trocknen nasser Gegenstände ist auf dem hinteren 'Balkon', allerdings sind auch hier die Wäscheklammern schon abgenutzt und haben auf einem Strandtuch rostige Flecken hinterlassen. Zu zweit war der Platz ausreichend, aber die angegebe Größe von 62qm wird das Hausboot nicht erreichen. Der vorhandene Stauraum für Kleidung ist sehr begrenzt, im bad gibt es keine Ablagefäche außer in der Dusche. Zu zweit in Ordnung, aber für vier wirklich sehr eng. Die Schlafcouch ist außerdem auch schon zum Sitzen sehr dürftig, da das Polster sehr durchgesessen ist und man nach kurzer Zeit auf dem Metallrahmen sitzt.

Excellent location! The boathouse is equipped with basic amenities. As I was staying when the lovely summer weather was happening, it would have been nice to have a small fan. Some parts of the place was a little under maintenance, for example the insect net of the window, tiny issues like this. I agree with some of the comments that some updates should be done. But in general the place is well equipped.

Well equiped kitchen. Bathroom was fine. 15 minutes walk to the supermarket and restaurant nearby. I like the quiet and relaxing vibe of the neighbourhood a lot.

The biggest highlight is the SUP and kayak! :D Locating next de Westeinderplassen, one can easily enjoy some time on the water. I enjoyed it a lot!

The host was very helpful and willing to communicate.

The pictures are very well presented… In real the accommodation is pretty small (no way that it’s 65m2!), the couch is very old, uncomfortable (and has a dirty matress) and everything is pretty worn down.

The place is cozy and nice. I liked the location on the channel and was close to Amsterdam by car, which was extremely important for me.
However, I would expect better quality and state of the whole facility for this price. Also, you should note that the planes are landing nearby which is loud late at night. Plus, the shower faucet should be fixed but I see I'm not the first who is sharing this:)
Overall, I wouldn't have mentioned the things above if the price was lower - the place is rather good.

Über das Hausboot kann ich nicht viel sagen, da ich nur bis an die Tür gekommen bin. Als wir ankamen war das Objekt besetzt und auch sehr geruchsintensiv in Gebrauch. Michel selbst ist nicht zu erreichen und an rental valley durchgeschaltet. Dort wird ausschließlich englisch gesprochen, jedoch die korrekte Buchung meinerseits bestätigt. Wir wurden aufgefordert ca. 3 Stunden zu warten, bis der Gast dort raus ist und ein Reinigungsteam kommt. Nach zehnstündiger Anreise und den Eindrücken vor Ort keine Option. Wir haben die Reise abgebrochen und die Nacht in einem Hotel verbracht. Ein ganz großes Lob an Airbnb, man hat uns sehr freundlich behandelt und äußerst rasch den entstandenen Schaden reguliert.

Demasiado caro por lo que es, yo y mi pareja era lo que buscábamos en el sentido de tranquilidad y buena vista pero todo lo demás no acompañó. Las alfombra están llena de suciedad, lleno de polvo, las cortinas ni las comento. La casa flotante está inclinada por lo cual te marea todo el rato. Los platos estaban todos sucios, comida dentro de cajas de plástico en los muebles. El baño tiene pérdida continua de agua que no te deja ni dormir. La habitación es un verdadero desastre. Necesita muchísimos arreglos. Me ocupo de lo mismo en ibiza, alquilo apartamentos vacacionales y la limpieza es lo básico y primordial a la hora de alquilar. Poco flexibles con el horario de salida. Me vino una alergia tremenda por el tanto polvo que había en esta casa. Me encantaría volver en verano pero no en esas condiciones. Vergonzoso.

I could only stay one night something fired up my allergies like mold most likely I had to get different place to stay and then I finally got better.i notified them right away and let them know and I hope they will make some kind of compromise with me and return some of my money back at least 1/2 of it. Hele leuke woonboot op een top locatie, parkeren voor de deur en vanaf de woonboot ben je direct op de plassen. In de stad is alles te lopen (15min) supermarkt, winkels, restaurants, sportschool. De boot lag bij ons verblijf wel erg schuin wat even wennen was en met koken etc een beetje lastig. Alles kan wel een likje verf en hier en daar wat extra schoonmaak gebruiken. Hele fijne week gehad! :-)

Das Hausboot ist schön gelegen und die Paddles und Kanus werten den Aufenthalt sehr auf. Da das Wasser aber am Ende des Kanal recht dreckig ist, springt man nur ungern direkt vom Hausboot ins Wasser. Die Unterkunft ist auf den ersten Blick sehr schön, doch man sieht gleich, dass die Bilder schon älter sind. Besonders das Schlafzimmer ist sehr abgeranzt. Die Küche und das Badezimmer/Klo bieten alles, was man braucht. Etwas irritierend ist die Schräglage des Hausbootes, da man sich nicht sicher ist, ob es sich verschlimmert.
Im Großen und Ganzen haben wir den Aufenthalt sehr genossen.

This boathouse was perfect for my partner and I! We took public transportation into Amsterdam everyday (20 minute walk to the bus stop, then a 10 minute bus ride, then a 30 minute tram ride to city center) it was so nice to come back to a quite place right on the water afterwards to relax. The only downsides were that there were no soap in the hand soap dispensers and that the public laundry was out of order, other than that it was perfect! Thank you!

Das Boot hatte Schräglage, was zumindest beim Schlafen nicht besonders angenehm war. Der hintere Schlafraum hatte eher die Atmosphäre einer Abstellkammer als eines Schlafzimmers. Zudem hatten wir für drei Personen nur zwei Deckbetten, dafür fünf Kopfkissen. Die als bequeme Taschenfederkern-Matratze gepriesene Matratze des Schlafsofas hatte Flecken und war völlig durchgelegen, so dass das Metallgestänge massiv spürbar war. Erholsamer Schlaf geht anders! Die Toilettenspülung funktionierte nicht zuverlässig, erst nach langem Warten konnte abgespült werden. Teilweise haben wir die WC-Anlage des Yachthafens genutzt. Die Mückengitter gaukeln Komfort vor, der nicht vorhanden war, weil die Gitter entweder eingerissen oder die Halterungen defekt waren. Die Sitzeinlage eines Kajaks war völlig verdreckt und deshalb nicht nutzbar, das Kajak selbst musste ebenfalls vor Benutzung gereinigt werden. Eines der beiden SUPs hatte ein Leck und eine fehlende Finne, so dass es nicht genutzt werden konnte. Das schmerzt insbesondere, weil gerade die beiden SUPs der Grund der Buchung genau dieses Hausbootes waren. Die Beleuchtung des Kühlschranks war defekt, die Regalfächer in der Tür waren abgerissen und die Fachböden fielen heraus. Die Kochutensilien waren in einem sehr gebrauchten Zustand, da hilft es auch nicht, wenn zwischendurch ein neuer Topf noch in Umverpackung im Schrank gefunden wurde, um über undefinierbar Klebendes in Töpfen und Pfannen hinwegzusehen.

Sehr gemütliches Hausboot mit allem was es braucht. Zentrale Lage, Amsterdam und andere Destinationen sind mit dem Auto schnell zu erreichen. Einfach im Norden Amsterdams parken und mit der gratis Fähre ins Zentrum fahren.

I should have read more into the other reviews. Somebody indicated the boat slanted and I thought, how bad can that be? It was pretty bad. I stumbled a few times and things would slide off where I put them. The sink wouldn’t fully empty either. The screen for the back door had holes in it and I got eaten alive by bugs each night. Couldn’t turn on the fan to cool down because it shook violently and I thought it would fall on me while sleeping if I could get to sleep through the noise of it. The washer and dryer on site were inoperable. Location was good related to the town but being the first slip in the marina was a bit noisy.

We had a number of issues starting with a refrigerator that didn’t work (turned out to be a bad outlet so we could use the frig if the freezer was unplugged). The toilet often took 30-45 minutes before you could flush again. After reporting this early in the morning day 1 we finally heard back at 4pm and were told this was normal for a houseboat (??). One of the stove burners did not work. One window screen couldn’t be used because the clip was broken (the wind kept blowing it out of the window). The place was clean but all the containers for shampoo and soap in the shower were empty. For the $$ this seems like a lot of little things that need attention. It is a cute space and the kitchen is pretty well equipped for a small unit. We didn’t use the kayaks or SUPs but it’s a very cool option. Great location - the town area is very close (just a few min by bicycle) and the canal it is on connects to a huge, beautiful lake.

The boat once inside bears no resemblance to the pictures on the listing which were obviously taken many years ago. The rugs were dirty, left over food in drawers and crumbs were left on the floor and work surfaces. Every plate, dish or mug we got from the cupboards was either dirty, chipped or cracked or all three. A mortar and pestle on top of the microwave still had food stuff in it. The fridge was unplugged so needed to cool down. The bedroom was the biggest disappointment, dank, dingy and unattractive and a dirty rug, not at all like the pictures on the listing. The bed was crammed into the space, walls damp and peeling and nowhere to put anything apart from a hanging rail and curtains with holes in. The lounge curtains were dirty and stained We opened doors on the first evening when the weather was nice but that led to mosquitos coming inside and we were both badly bitten, fly screen were left propped behind furniture untidily. Outside resembled a junk yard so not relaxing

Hem estat molt a gust i hem encertat aquest allotjament ja que necessitàvem natura i espais oberts. La casa té una inclinació de 2° que ens ha fet la sensació d’estar en un vaixell però ens hi hem adaptat i per les estones que hi hem estat no ens ha molestat.

das Hausboot wirkte auf den Fotos gepflegt und in Schuss. Das entsprach nicht ganz der Wirklichkeit. Es sind Wartungsarbeiten definitiv fällig: die Küchenschranktüren waren schlecht zu bedienen, schlossen teilweise nicht richtig. Der Abfluss der Dusche lief schlecht ab, da das Boot Schräglage hatte. Es war schwierig zu duschen, ohne eine Überschwemmung zu riskieren. Die Außenfassade benötigt einen neuen Anstrich. Es entstand der Eindruck als ob zwar gereinigt wurde aber nur oberflächlich: Chipsbrösel zwischen den Dielen, Brösel auf dem Teppich und neben der Couch, Geschirr schmutzig im Schrank (Teller und Töpfe mit angekrusteten Resten), Küchenschränke klebrig, in den Schubladen Schokopapier von den Vorgängern. Leider gab es auch nur ein einziges Weinglas und das hatte Sprünge und ein ausgebrochenes Stück am Rand, so dass es nicht benutzbar war.
Das Boot ist liebevoll ausgestattet, aber definitiv wurde es in letzter Zeit nicht gut gepflegt und gereinigt.

It was filthy. The carpet needed vacuuming, there was trash on the floor, the dishes had old food stuck to them, and worst of all we opened up the sofa bed for the first time and found a used sheet with large food crumbs, two yellow stains and hair. We messaged the host to get a refund on the cleaning fee because we paid a cleaning fee but it wasn’t up to standards, and they only gave us back one third of our cleaning fee. If they had refunded it maybe I’d recommend this place, but if you have a problem they don’t even refund you or help you fix the issue. Don’t recommend

Location and accommodation is not as presented in the photos.
There is no view and the accommodation is next to unkept area of the marina, I felt like we're staying in a scrap yard.
Considering the high cleaning fee, I was surprised with the state of the accommodation too..
Furniture was old and damaged.

Close to the airport indeed but if you don't drive getting to the location is a challenge, just something to keep in mind.

Found another hotel and left asap.

Gedeeltelijk leuk en smaakvol opgeknapt woonbootje. Wel klein, foto’s vertekenen nogal!
Veel plekken viezig ennslecht onderhouden. Gezien de schoonmaakkosten mag je meer verwachten! Daarnaast lag het bootje erg schuin waardoor slapen wat lastig was!
Als alkes netjes wordt gemaakt en schoon (keuken en pannen!) kan het een leuk verblijf zijn!

Es gab Hare überall ins Bett und kein Saubere Kopfkissenbezügen. Keine Antwort darauf, als ich auf neue Fragen! Wenn es nicht so schwer war um zeitlich eine andere Wohnung zu schaffen, habe ich!
Das Floss hängt mindestens 6 Grad und ich fand es sehr ungemütlich und sogar gefährlich! Da habe ich in die Mittel der Nach aufgestanden und wegen der Winkel des Bodens mich fast verletzt. Auch dafür habe ich schon am ersten Tag gefragt ob das korrigiert werden kann aber keine Antwort, nur eine Bestätigung das meine Nachricht dazu weitergeleitet würde.

The house boat was very cute and romantic and had everything we needed. We especially enjoyed enjoyed using the kayaks. Just one thing to be aware of, if you don’t have a car it’s a good 20 minute walk to the nearest bus stop to take you to a train station.

Sehr schönes Bootshaus! Man hat hier wirklich alles was man braucht. Die Flugzeuge waren kaum zu hören und die Lage ist sehr ruhig.

Kleiner Tipp: Ein Mittel gegen Mücken mitnehmen und dank unserer Fliegenpatsche konnten wir einige erledigen 😉

This charming place made for a great base for us to explore Aaslmeer. We really enjoyed the novel experience of the houseboat. We found everything we needed (supermarket, shops, restaurants, bus stops etc) an easy picturesque walk away.

This my second time at Michels Houseboat. I like it very much. See the sun rise coffee drinking and ducks feeding! Amazing!
The neighborhood is great, beautiful houses, a nice little pedestrian street, the market, where we ate the best fresh and warm caramel waffles!! And great communication for any kind of questions.

Very cozy house boat with everything you need. The location is great, close to Amsterdam but also to the sea. The interior offers everything you need and it was super clean. Please do not forget to bring anti mosquito as it is directly at the water. And at some nights the close airport was really annoying, as some planes were coming down around 11pm, sometimes it felt like they land on our roof.
But all in all this place is really recommendable.

Alles was Michel hier verspricht, wird wahr und das zu Tausenden :) Aalsmeer ist eine wunderschöner Ort an dem man sich nicht satt sehen kann. Die Lage des Bootes ist einfach nur Traumhaft und Michel ist ein sehr, sehr freundlicher Gastgeber.

All things, promised by michel, are real and amazing. Aalsmeer is a little, lovely place where you can see the cute dutch spirit. The houseboat is also amazing and big as well. Michel is a very nice person and built a beautiful place.

Wir waren sehr begeistert von Michels Hausboot. Sauber, schön Eingerichtet und man hat alles was man braucht. Michel ist sehr Gastfreundlich und hat uns am Ankunftstag mit einem Starterpacket begrüßt (Obst, Brot, Wein usw.). Am besten war es das man die Kajaks und Sufboards mit nutzen durfte, so konnten wir viele schöne Touren unternehmen. Wir würden gerne wieder kommen.

Der Aufenthalt hat uns beiden sehr gefallen und würden jeder Zeit gerne wieder Urlaub auf diesem herzlich eingerichteten Hausboot machen. Es ist perfekt für Paare, bietet aber auch genug Platz für eine weitere Person. Es ist alles vorhanden, was man braucht und es gab sogar eine Flasche Wein plus einige Lebensmittel, die wir benutzen durften. Beim Check in und Check out war Michel sehr entgegenkommend und flexibel. Danke dafür! Wir haben den Aufenthalt wirklich genossen.

Wir hatten wunderschöne Tage auf Michels Hausboot! Was eine tolle Erfahrung, hier zu übernachten! Alles war wie beschrieben. Michel selbst ist sehr nett und hilfsbereit, hat gute Tipps für die Region und hat uns warmherzig willkommen geheißen. Besonders toll fanden wir die Kayaks bzw. SUPs, die Michel zur Verfügung stellt und mit denen wir jeden Tag einen kleinen Ausflug unternommen haben. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Wir waren zu zweit über knapp in dem Hausboot & wir waren wirklich sehr zufrieden.
Wir wurden sehr nett und herzlich begrüßt. Michel hat uns wirklich alles in Ruhe erklärt.
War wirklich sehr schön. Man hat seine Ruhe ist aber auch sehr schnell in der Stadt. Waren dort auch essen uns können wirklich nicht meckern.
Wie würden jederzeit wieder hin gehen! Nur zu empfehlen!

It's about an hour train ride into Amsterdam. Theres a small town that has some Restaurants, grocery stores, and shops fifteen minutes away. Place is pretty tiny, but three people fit fine.
