The Lemon Lodge is an off-grid eco escape nestled between the Monchique mountains and the rustic coastline of the Algarve for true nature lovers.
The space
The Lemon Lodge is a renovated farmhouse split into two unique self-sustainable lodgings. Water is pumped from the land, and the power is generated from the sun.
Surrounded by pine trees and situated on a hill, the suites have spectacular views of the valley and the food gardens.
The two lodgings are inviting, comfortable yet rustic, as inspired by nature.
Tikka is a large suite with two separate bedrooms and a rustic bathroom accommodating four people. The rooms surround you with sandy colours enhanced with rich wooden finishes.
The suite is perfect for family or friends and has a spacious equipped kitchen with oven to enjoy your home-cooked meals. In the private garden is a laid-back sitting area with stunning views of the valley that can be viewed from the hammock.
As we believe the kitchen to be the heart of the house, the suite comes with complimentary tea, locally roasted coffee and essential kitchen herbs to enjoy your homespun meals. The suite is also provided with handcrafted biodegradable soap and shampoo made locally in the valley.

★ We have a wood fired sauna free of charge for our guests.

★ Our sundeck is situated next to the sauna. Please feel free to use it and enjoy a cold dip in our salt water dipping pool.
★ Icebath
★ There is a permanent ice bath at the Sauna area. If you are familiair with Cold Exposure you are welcome to use it.
★ Yoga deck
★ There is a beautiful spacious deck with an amazing view over the valley.
Other things to note
Please note that arriving after 9 PM is not recommended. Check-ins after 6 PM only in consultation with our local hosts.

The joint hands of William & Michelle and Alex & Helena continuously work together to make The Lemon Lodge an eco-friendly farmstead that lives and breathes an enhancing way of life to inspire oneself and others.

The neighborhood
The Lemon Lodge is closely located to the village of Aljezur, which is less than a 10 min drive or 45 min by foot. The walks in this area are stunning, and fortunately, the Lodge is situated next to the famous Pilgrim walk "Rota Vicentina" with the option for a circular route.
Recently, this part of the Algarve has emerged as a surfers' and hikers haven. Hugged by Cape St Vincent Natural Park and the beautiful mountains of Monchique, there are lots to explore by car, bike, horse or foot.
Getting around
✈︎ Faro to The Lemon Lodge, a 1-hour drive
✈︎ Lisbon to The Lemon Lodge is a 3,5-hour drive
We recommend having your car explore the beautiful surroundings. However, if you wish to discover the unbeaten tracks, we suggest renting a 4x4.
Once booked, we will send a clear route description on how to get here.
Please note that the road towards our lodge can be navigated with a regular car but it is not a paved road.
Other things to note
We ask our guests to leave their four-legged friends at home as we have four dogs, two cats, two horses and lots of chickens walking around the land.

ℹ SEF REQUIREMENTS. All property owners in Portugal have a legal requirement to report tourists’ and guests information to Serviço de Estrangeiros e Fronteiras (known for short as, SEF). Guest can cancel free of charge up to 14 days before arrival. After this date 100% of the total booking amount is due. Cleaning and linen fees will be refunded to the guest in case of cancellation within 7 of arrival. We strongly advise to take cancellation insurance for your trip to avoid possible financial damage.

Michelle und Alex waren sehr freundliche Gastgeber. Die Hunde waren auch ganz toll. Wenn man was anmerken wollte: für sehbehinderte Menschen ist es sehr dunkel in der Unterkunft und es gibt dafür zu wenig starke Lampen. Das wäre aber das einzige. Ansonsten absolute Empfehlung. Ich habe mich sehr in den Ort verliebt.

The bed was comfortable, and the mosquito net was cozy and necessary. Though remote, the internet connection worked fine, and the nearby town had everything we needed. It felt private and quiet, yet safe with the dogs around and knowing people were nearby. We loved the dogs visiting! Unfortunately, the horses weren't there during our stay.
The plunge pool (or ice bath) is perfect for cooling down and much better than a chlorine pool. It's good to be mindful of water usage due to the drought, but the owners manage water reuse and composting impressively.
The road to the lodge can be challenging the first time, so you won’t encounter others who don’t belong. Clear instructions were provided, so it wasn't a surprise (and even a bit fun to drive this adventurous road).
Overall, this felt like a 5-star experience in the middle of amazing nature. Although there are nice beaches nearby, you’ll want to stay at the Lodge and enjoy every minute. For us, the stay felt much too short, so we’ll definitely have to come back!

Had a very comfortable sleep and found myself at peace, just sitting, relaxing. There are some Dutch words that describe it best; “Onthaasten”. And “Herbronnen”. It felt like a beautiful escape.

Die Geschirrspülmaschine war leider die 7 Tage defekt, das nervt bei einer vierköpfigen Familie. Es gab ein süßes Gastgeschenk als Entschädigung. Bei uns ist zwei Mal der Strom ausgefallen, es hatte nicht genug Sonne geschienen und der Generator war defekt. Der off-road Weg von der Hauptstraße zur Unterkunft ist sehr abenteuerlich und kostet einen nochmal ca. 15 Min

From all of the eco friendly decor, to the setting of this suite, and the beautiful conversations with Helena and Alex - this place deserves 10 stars! Words do not do it justice.
This place in completely off grid and remote, yet feels like you have everything you'd ever need. I stayed there with 3 other people and my group had the best time!
Communication with the rental company was not the best but they include the hosts phone numbers and the host are SO friendly and helpful!
I recommend this place wholeheartedly! If you stay here, the only time you will be disappointed is when you are leaving because you'll want to stay forever.

The bed is very very comfortable.
We did not meet all of the hosts, but Helena and Alex were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. It was a pleasure staying at their beautiful space.

the house was comfortable & beautifully furnished & appointed with lovely details like olive oil salt pepper & herbs in the kitchen - oh and fresh eggs too! the owners have put a lot of love & effort into restoring two beautiful places to stay. Their welcome is warm & they are helpful & friendly but leave you in peace. we loved walking around the property & visits from the dogs. if you love being in a natural peaceful environment you will love it.

We stayed in the TIKKA suite, which is a super spacious suite especially when travelling as a couple but also definately a lot of space for four persons.
The materials and colours used inside the suite are super warm and natural.
The kitchen is equipped with literally all you need to prepare also your own meals and enjoy them inside or outside in the beautiful terrace.
The wine, tea and coffee on the house was a nice surprise and well appreciated ;-)
The outside area is just perfect and super large as well. You can choose from sitting in a sun chair or in the lounge area or just relaxing in the hammock.
This in combination with the silence and beauty of the area is just the perfect treat.
We met Alex, one of the owner and he was super friendly and helpful, the perfect host.
If you are looking for a place to relax and just chill out in the area of Aljezur, this is definately the place.
Even if you wanna go to the beaches, it‘s only a 15 min drive to the beautiful beaches in the area.
