Being a local I can't think of a better place to stay in Aljezur! Surrounded by breathtaking views over vibrant farmland and the Monchique mountain.
The space
This cosy and typical Portuguese house has an amazing view over the mountains of Monchique, located in a friendly, local area. It is not luxurious but tranquil, clean and has all you need with great charm. It features two bedrooms, a bathroom with a spacious shower, a well equipped kitchen and a loft where you can enjoy your dinners.

The neighborhood
Located in the hills of rich history and authentic Portuguese culture this place is truly a hidden treasure. Guests will fall in love with the rustic village atmosphere, as well as quick access to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Casa Aljezur brings the best of both worlds - allowing travelers to be able to enjoy activities in town, museums, hikes, surfing, social gatherings, etc. and retreat back to a comfy, adorable place to rest.
Casa Aljezur's guests walk to the municipal market (a 5-minute downhill stroll) for the best local fresh fish and products, or just to enjoy the atmosphere. On their way through the narrow old streets they pass the municipal museum, the original village church, and they cross the road that leads to the old moorish castle.
In the opposite direction, the street takes you to the road leading along the creek to Amoreira beach, one of the most beautiful in the region, with a small river running all the way to the ocean, a sandy beach with dunes and a rocky beach area with natural pools packed with ocean life.
The area has grown very popular with hikers, thanks to the Vicentina Route and the famous fishermen trail, which you can join easily from Aljezur.
Getting around
You are 5 min walk from the town centre with cafes, restaurants, supermarkets, banks and tourist office and bus stop from where every days 2x a bus goes to Lisboa (only 17 euro) and more frequent busses to Lagos etc.
To explore the area you can either hike one of the trails, use a mountainbike to get around or drive around by car to see even more.

Cuisine spatieuse.
Il n'est pas possible de se garer à côté, mais nous étions prévenus. Belle côte à prendre à pied du coup avec la valise.

De lokale host Eveline bleek niet bereikbaar en heeft na verschillende pogingen tot contact niets meer van zich laten horen. Gelukkig kon het contactcenter van de beheerder van de accommodatie de code voor de sleutelkluis geven.
Ook is de bereikbaarheid van het huisje behoorlijk lastig, je moet echt een goede chauffeur zijn en een niet te grote auto hebben om voor de deur te komen.

We had a lovely week staying there. Everything was well equipped lots of space for stuff you can bring.
You might need to walk a bit to the house because the roads are quite steep.

Dennoch muss man sich im Klaren darüber sein, dass die Unterkunft nicht gerade leicht zu finden bzw. echt schwierig mit dem Auto zu erreichen ist. Wir haben meistens an einem sehr steilen Berg geparkt und sind dann einige Meter zur Unterkunft gelaufen sind.

Dass man nicht mit dem Auto direkt vors Haus fahren kann ist in der Altstadt von Aljezur ganz normal und eher ein Vorteil von diesem Haus, denn dadurch ist es nachts vor der Tür total ruhig.

The only drawback for us was the shower, which unfortunately didn't always have hot water. The boiler sometimes doesn't seem to start.

Die Unterkunft war sehr gemütlich :)
Der Schlüssel lag nicht dort, wo es im Manual (Infos zur Anreise) beschrieben war! Und die Straße/Gasse der Unterkunft kannte im Ort niemand, nachher hat mir dann ein netter Amerikaner geholfen, die Unterkunft und den Schlüssel zu finden. Ich habe am Anreisetag mehrfach versucht, die zuständige Ansprechpartnerin Eveline telefonisch zur erreichen - vergebens (immer besetzt)! Die genannte Parkplatz-Option bei der Kirche war nicht frei. Ich habe dann später eine bessere Option gefunden, die dann auch mit schwerem Gepäck zu meistern war...

Tot i això, les fotos no es corresponen amb la decoració actual. Cal dir que la roba de llit i les tovalloles estaven execivament usades i algunes tenien taques evidents. Els coixins i la manta del sofà estaven bruts. Això fa perdre encant al apartament que és preciós!
Vam comentar ho amb els amfitrions i van respondre de seguida, oferint-nos solucions i fins i tot, un altre allotjament anulant el nostre. Aquesta opció per nosaltres ens suposava un problema i una perdia de temps en plena temporada alta, Finalment, vam decidir quedar-nos.

Ich bat darun, wenigstens die Reinigungsgebühr zu erlassen. Ohne Einzug ist eine erneute Reinigung des Appartements nicht nötig. Die Agentur sagte, dass bei einer Stornierung gerne darüber geredet werden kann. Also stornierten wir. Nun sagt die Agentur, dass aufgrund der Stornierung keine Rückerstattung der Reinigungsgebühr stattfinden kann. Dies ist eine unglaubliche Frechheit ! Hier wird einfach eiskalt Profit gemacht und schön doppelt abgerechnet. Finger weg !

Hinweis: Parkmöglichkeiten nicht direkt am Haus, sondern über enge Gassen oberhalb des Hauses für alle dort Wohnenden nutzbarer Abstellplatz, wobei wir immer einen Platz gefunden haben. Es empfiehlt sich einen kleinen Mietwagen zu nehmen.

La maison est bien placée dans le centre historique et suffisamment en hauteur pour avoir une vue sympa sur la vallée.
En revanche, je dirais qu’elle est quand même assez chère pour les prestations proposées. Elle a besoin d’un rafraîchissement sérieux tant au niveau de la salle de bain qu’à l’entretien de ce quiz st existant. En tous cas pour prétendre à ce genre de tarifs. Nous sommes de grands habitués d’aljezur et louons dans la région chaque année : les maisons à louer sont de plus en plus refaites minutieusement et proposent des prestations bien plus hauts de gamme et de bien meilleur goût pour un tarif équivalent. Il faut revoir la copie…

Problems were:
- Door was not locked upon arrival,
-Keys were not at the place where Rental Valley told us before Check in
- House door was damaged upon check in
-House door was severely hanging and scratching on the floor
- House door could not be opened fully just 50%
-House door could be locked only if you pull up the door with momentum
-Door handle of house door was already very lose
- extremely whistling water pipe (like a Sirene for 1 minute) when flushing the toilet
-door handle of bathroom was completely lose, screws were missing
- drain was clogged in the kitchen
-sink in the kitchen was dirty upon check in
- turned out that sink was also leaking
- very difficult to load and unload washing machine as it was placed underneath a wooden stage only 120 cm high, you must crawl under the stage to get to the washing machine
- very old towels with stains
- seat cushions extremely used, looked greasy and partly with stains
- outdoor furniture was different as displayed on Fotos
- Rental Price for house was high and did not correspond to the quality of the house
- After reporting the deficiencies to the Landlady she terminated contract without notice. We were forced to leave within a few hours. Rental Valley Netherlands recommended to get in contact with Airbnb. After we managed to get directly in contact with Airbnb on the phone they quickly assisted us in termination of contract and promised full refund within 8 days. We really appreciated the help of Airbnb. However, we spent a few hours on the phone to Organise steps with Airbnb - very difficult to find alternative houses in high season for a family who needs 4 beds
