The neighborhood

Assendelft, a charming village in North Holland, just 20 minutes from Amsterdam. Known for its scenic beauty and tranquil atmosphere. In the village, you'll find cozy cafes, local shops, and historic sites like the Saint Odulphus Church. Nearby attractions include the North Sea coast with its stunning beaches and the Zaanse Schans, an open-air museum showcasing traditional Dutch culture.

For nature enthusiasts, the nearby Wijkermeer and Uitgeestermeer lakes offer opportunities for boating, fishing, and bird-watching. The Twiske Recreation Area, with its lakes, forests, and meadows, is great for picnicking, swimming, and hiking.

Getting around

The nearest train station, Assendelft Krommenie, is just a short distance from the village center. Direct trains from Amsterdam Central Station to Assendelft Krommenie take about 25 minutes, running frequently throughout the day. Local buses connect Assendelft to nearby towns like Zaandam and Haarlem.

To visit attractions, you can take a train or bus to Koog-Zaandijk station for the Zaanse Schans open-air museum or cycle there in about 30 minutes. For a beach day, take a train to Castricum (20 minutes) or Zandvoort (45 minutes). Frequent trains to Amsterdam Central Station make it easy to explore the capital's iconic sights.
