Wake up to open sea and rooftop views from the top floors of a Lagos old town penthouse, renovated in 2023. Four bedrooms, two levels, and balconies that catch the light from morning to sunset. Everything the town has to offer is a short walk away.

The space

Casa Elysium is a penthouse on two levels — the 3rd and 4th floors of a building in the heart of Lagos old town — with approximately 220 m² of living space, renovated in 2023. Sea and rooftop views run through the apartment from multiple balconies on both floors.

The lower level (3rd floor) has a generous living and dining area with a fireplace and dimmable cove lighting, and a fully equipped kitchen. Bedroom 1 has two singles joined as a 180 cm bed and an en-suite bathroom with shower and WC. Bedroom 2 has a bunk bed (80×200 cm, pull-out) and a small desk. A bathroom with shower and WC serves the floor.

An internal staircase leads to the upper level (4th floor). Bedroom 3 is the master: a 160 cm queensize bed, en-suite bathroom with bathtub, shower, and two sinks. Bedroom 4 has a 160 cm queensize bed. Air conditioning and ceiling fans are fitted in all four bedrooms. A bathroom with shower and WC is on this floor.

From the balconies on the upper level, the view stretches over the old town rooftops and all the way to the Atlantic — the kind of view you come back to at the end of every day.

➤ We usually welcome families or responsible adults, because the accommodation is part of a neighbourhood and we love our neighbours. Parties and other disturbances are not accepted.
➤ The apartment has an internal staircase between the two levels. The building has a lift, but stairs are part of daily use inside the apartment. A travel cot and highchair are available on request — but please note this property is not ideal for young children due to the internal stairs.

The neighborhood

Lagos is one of the Algarve's most complete towns — a working city with a proper old town, a castle wall, a marina, and beaches within walking distance. Rua Mendonça Pessahna sits in the historic centre, a few minutes on foot from the main square, the covered market, and the waterfront promenade along the Rio Bensafrim.

The town beach, Praia da Batata, is roughly a 10-minute walk. Meia Praia, a long stretch of sand popular with families and kitesurfers, is around 10 minutes by car. Ponta da Piedade — the sea cliffs and grottos that define the Lagos coastline — is about 15 minutes by car and best visited early morning before the boat tours arrive.

Sagres and the southwest tip of Portugal is under 40 minutes by car. The market town of Silves, with its Moorish castle, is around 40 minutes in the other direction. Portimão and the beach town of Alvor are each about 25 minutes.

Getting around

Faro Airport is approximately 1 hour 20 minutes by car. A car is useful for exploring the region, though Lagos old town is entirely walkable from the apartment. The train station is around 10 minutes on foot and connects to Faro with several departures daily. Lagos bus station is nearby, with regional connections to Sagres and other villages along the west coast.

One covered private parking spot is included with the apartment.

➤ The fireplace in the living room is decorative and not available for use.
