The space

Casa Nido is a single-storey house of 110 m², with a west-facing fenced garden, a south/west-facing rooftop balcony, and room for up to 5 guests.

The living room is open-plan, with a real fireplace, a green velvet sofa, and large glass doors that open directly onto the garden. It is the kind of room that fills up naturally — morning coffee at the table, an evening on the sofa with the fire on, children moving between indoors and out.

The kitchen runs the full length of one wall in dark cabinetry: oven, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, microwave, coffee maker, stove. The dining table connects kitchen and living room.

The main bedroom has a king-size bed. The second bedroom is set up for children: a bunk bed and a single bed in the same room, sleeping up to 3 kids, with toys and books within reach.

The bathroom has both a bathtub and a separate shower, plus a WC.

Upstairs, the south/west-facing rooftop balcony looks out over the rooftops and the dunes — best in the afternoon, when the light comes in from the side.

The neighborhood

Marisstraat sits in the southern part of Zandvoort, a quiet residential street a short walk from the boulevard and the beach. The neighbourhood is calm and mostly local — the kind of place where you cycle to the bakery in the morning and walk back along the dunes.

Zandvoort beach runs for nine kilometres along the North Sea, with wide pale sand, rolling waves, and beach bars open all year. In summer the boulevard fills with families, surfers, and day-trippers from Amsterdam; in autumn and winter the beach empties out and the walk along the water is worth the trip alone. The nearest stretch of beach is the family section, central and well served with pavilions.

The town centre has all the basics: supermarkets, bakeries, restaurants, and cafés. Circuit Zandvoort — home to Formula 1 and other motorsport events — is close by. National Park Zuid-Kennemerland begins at the edge of town, with marked routes through the dunes where deer, foxes, and European bison roam freely.

Getting around

Zandvoort has a direct train connection to Amsterdam Centraal (around 30 minutes, twice an hour, four times an hour in summer) and to Haarlem in about 10 minutes. The station is a short walk from the house and practically on the beach.

By car, Amsterdam is around 30-35 minutes away and Haarlem about 15 minutes. Parking throughout Zandvoort is paid and on-street; spaces near the house are generally available outside the busiest summer days and event weekends.
