The space

Picture breakfast on the sunny balcony, an afternoon at the pool and a last drink on the roof terrace as the light fades over the green hills of the western Algarve. Casa Sobreira is a 140 m² townhouse in the quiet Quinta da Encosta Velha resort, with three bedrooms, two bathrooms and room for up to 6 guests.

The house is spread over four levels plus a roof terrace, so everyone has their own corner. You enter on the ground floor, where the first bedroom is. Downstairs are two more bedrooms with blackout curtains, both opening onto the private garden facing south/southwest. Up from the entrance is the bright living and dining room, with doors to the south/southwest-facing balcony, a good spot for lunch or dinner outside. One more floor up is the fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, oven, microwave and a Delta coffee machine. From there, the stairs continue to the roof terrace.

Besides the en-suite, there is a family bathroom with a bath and shower. All bedrooms and the living room have air conditioning, which also heats the rooms in the cooler months. The windows have mosquito nets.

At the end of the day, the roof terrace is where the house goes quiet and the evening settles over the hills.

One storage room is reserved for the owners and stays locked. The house has stairs between every level, so it may not suit guests with limited mobility, and young children will need supervision on the stairs.

The neighborhood

Budens is a small village in the far west of the Algarve, between Lagos and Sagres, on the edge of the protected Costa Vicentina Natural Park. Life here is relaxed and local, and the area draws families, surfers, hikers and golfers to its quiet beaches, coastal trails and nearby golf course.

Casa Sobreira is in Quinta da Encosta Velha, a residential resort on the edge of Budens, next to the Santo António (Parque da Floresta) golf course. The Intermarché supermarket is about a 15-minute walk or a few minutes by car, and village restaurants such as GoodFellas (Italian) and O Tiago (Portuguese, booking recommended) are within walking distance. The beach and fishing village of Salema are a 5-minute drive away. Burgau, Praia da Luz and Lagos lie further east, and Sagres is about 20 minutes west.

Getting around

Faro Airport is about 1 hour 15 minutes by car (approx. 110 km), and car rental is available at the airport. The nearest train station is in Lagos, about 20 minutes away by car.

Buses run along the N125 between Lagos and Sagres, but services are limited. To explore the area, we recommend a (rental) car. Free street parking is available around the house.

➤ Check-in time: 16:00-22:00 (late arrival possible in consultation)
➤ Check-out time: before 10:00

➤ The shared pool is about 100 m from the house and is reached with the pool fob provided. The pool is not heated and is open daily from 08:00 to 20:00.
➤ The house is spread over four levels with stairs in between. The kitchen is one floor above the living and dining room.
➤ The fireplace in the living room is currently not in use.
➤ Pets are not allowed. Smoking is only allowed outside.

ℹ AIMA REQUIREMENTS. All property owners in Portugal have a legal requirement to report tourists’ and guests’ information to AIMA (Agência para a Integração, Migrações e Asilo), which replaced SEF. To comply with legal requirements, from a week before arrival, we shall send you a link to our registration form to complete and send back to us before your arrival. It is a mandatory requirement.
