The neighborhood
Raposeira - This is one of the places in the southwestern Algarve where Prince Henry the Navigator lived.
You are spoilt for choice regarding the 16 beaches, all within a 5-15 minute drive. There are also several supermarkets to get fresh supplies from within this timeframe. With many restaurants to choose from, your taste buds will embrace the authentic Portuguese food & Algarve specialities.
Altos de Raposeira is a small, growing community behind the town of Raposeira. Here, you will be away from the crowds and surrounded by nature without feeling completely isolated. Raposeira town, with some lovely local shops and restaurants, is close by, and some of the most beautiful beaches of the Algarve are only a short drive away. By car, you will reach the nearest big supermarket within 5 minutes. Surf town Sagres is only 10 minutes away, and beach town Lagos and another selection of fantastic beaches can be reached in 15-25 minutes.
This area is the perfect getaway for families looking for tranquillity but doesn't want to go too far off the beaten track. It is also ideal for hikers, surfers and other (water) sports lovers. Golf resorts are just around the corner.
Getting around
From Faro Airport, Raposeira can be reached in 75 minutes by car and between 4-5 hours by public transport.
The best way to travel the Algarvarian coast is by boat or car. If you want to explore the area, a (rental) car will make your life much easier as public transport is limited but will also get you around. Buses are going from Lagos and Sagres as well that stop in Raposeira.
