Casa Alvor - Rooftop Jacuzzi with Sea Views

The space

Casa Alvor is a three-level villa of 180m² in Praceta Alto da Ria, in the centre of Alvor village. It accommodates up to 8 adults, or up to 10 when travelling with young children.

The main entry level is the heart of the home. A light-filled living room with a fireplace and air conditioning opens onto a balcony with a small table and chairs, from where steps lead down to the private garden. The fully equipped kitchen is on this level, with a dining table alongside. Two bedrooms are also on this floor: both have a double bed made up from two single beds (which can be separated on request) and their own air conditioning unit. A bathroom with shower and toilet serves this floor.

Head downstairs to the lower level, where the mood shifts. A generous room houses a full-size pool table and a sofa bed tucked behind a curtain, ideal for older children or as a games room. There is also a third bedroom here with two single beds and its own air conditioning, a second bathroom with shower and toilet, and a washing machine. A door on this level connects directly to the garden, where you will find sun loungers, a dining table, and a BBQ on the lawn.

The top floor is a self-contained apartment with its own entrance from the main hallway. A living area with a sofa, air conditioning, Smart TV, and compact kitchen sits alongside the fourth bedroom, which has a double bed (two singles) and air conditioning. A bathroom with shower and toilet and a washing machine complete this level.

Step through the door onto the roof terrace: a jacuzzi, a BBQ, sun loungers, and a dining table, with sea views across the rooftops all the way to the Atlantic.

That view, at sunset, is the reason people come back.

The neighborhood

Alvor is one of those Algarve villages that still feels like itself. The old centre, a short walk from the villa, has a square lined with restaurants and bars, a weekly market, local shops, and a church that has been here since the 16th century. The seafront is a long wooden boardwalk over the lagoon, with views across the Alvor estuary to the dunes and the Atlantic beyond.

Praia de Alvor is around 1.5 km from the villa, roughly 4 minutes by car or 20 minutes on foot along the seafront boardwalk. The beach is wide, sheltered, and well set up for families. Meia Praia, a long straight stretch of sand popular with kitesurfers and beach clubs, is around 10 minutes by car.

Portimão and its marina are around 8 minutes by car. Lagos, with its old town, beaches, and wider restaurant scene, is around 15 minutes.

For day trips: the market town of Silves and its Moorish castle is around 30 minutes east. Sagres and the dramatic cliffs of Cabo de São Vicente, the south-westernmost point of mainland Europe, are about 45 minutes west.

Getting around

A car is recommended for getting around the wider Algarve. Alvor village is walkable from the villa, and the seafront boardwalk to the beach is a pleasant flat walk. Portimão has a train station on the Algarve line, around 10 minutes by car. Faro Airport is approximately 55 minutes by car. Lisbon is around 3 hours by car or roughly 3 hours 15 minutes by express train from Portimão via Tunes. Private parking is included.
