Tucked into the edge of Budens, a traditional Portuguese village in the western Algarve, Casa Iguana is a spacious three-bedroom apartment with access to a south-facing shared pool and jacuzzi, surrounded by open countryside and the gentle silhouette of an old windmill.
The space
Casa Iguana is a 150m² apartment across two floors, part of a quiet complex of seven linked villas on the edge of Budens village.
On the ground floor, the entrance opens to a separate WC on the left and a fully equipped kitchen on the right. Ahead, the living room runs through to a terrace that looks out over the communal pool area. The living room has air conditioning and a fireplace with a pellet burner, and the terrace catches the sun from morning onwards.
Upstairs, a long balcony connects the sleeping areas. On the left, a bedroom with two single beds has direct balcony access. Next to it, the main bedroom has a double bed, an ensuite bathroom with shower and toilet, and its own balcony access. On the right side of the landing, a shared bathroom with bath and toilet serves the third bedroom, which also has two single beds. All three bedrooms have their own air conditioning unit.
The complex is shared with just six other villas, and the pool and jacuzzi are largely under-used, even at the height of summer. The wide terrace, a row of sunbeds, and the view over the pool to open countryside beyond set the tone for most days here.

The neighborhood
Budens is a small working village on the EN125 between Lagos and Sagres, sitting on the edge of the Costa Vicentina nature reserve. There is an Intermarché in the village for basics, a petrol station, a handful of local restaurants, and a bus stop a few minutes' walk away.
The complex is next to Parque da Floresta, one of the Algarve's established golf resorts, though you have no need to be a golfer to enjoy the location. The surrounding countryside is open and quiet, and several of the western Algarve's best beaches are within easy reach by car.
Salema is the closest beach village, around 5 minutes away. Its wide, sheltered bay has a genuine fishing-village character that much of the Algarve has lost. Burgau is similar in feel, slightly smaller, a few minutes in the other direction. Sagres, with its dramatic fortress at the southwestern tip of Europe, is around 20 minutes. Lagos, with its town beaches, marina, restaurants, and old town, is around 20 minutes in the other direction.
Getting around
A car is strongly recommended. The complex sits just outside Budens village, with a bus stop a few minutes' walk from the apartment. The local bus connects to Sagres and Lagos, though services are infrequent. Faro Airport is approximately 1 hour 15 minutes by car. Lagos is around 20 minutes. Salema beach is around 5 minutes. Street parking is available at the complex and private parking is included.
Other things to note
➤ Check-in time: 16:00-22:00 (late arrival possible in consultation)
➤ Check-out time: before 10:00
➤ Smoking is not permitted inside the apartment. Smoking is allowed in outdoor areas.
➤ The shared pool and jacuzzi are unfenced. Guests with young children should take appropriate precautions.
ℹ SEF REQUIREMENTS. All property owners in Portugal have a legal requirement to report tourists' and guests' information to Serviço de Estrangeiros e Fronteiras (known for short as SEF). To comply with legal requirements, from a week before arrival, we shall send you a link to our SEF form to complete and send back to us before your arrival. It is a mandatory requirement.
