Set on a private nine-hectare estate in the heart of the Dão wine region, this villa places you in Portugal's quiet interior, surrounded by vineyards, olive trees, and pine forest. The coast, the mountains, and the city of Viseu are all within reach, but you may not feel the urge to leave.
The space
Quinta Tapada do Vale is a 340m² villa on two floors, sleeping up to 6 adults and 7 guests in total, set within a nine-hectare private estate in Vila Mea, Carregal do Sal.
On the ground floor you will find an open living area with a smart TV and air conditioning, a fully equipped kitchen with dining space, and a sauna. A home office with a sofa bed offers sleeping space for a child or an additional guest.
Upstairs, three bedrooms are arranged across the upper floor. Bedroom 1 and Bedroom 2 each have a double bed. Bedroom 3 has two single beds that can be pushed together on request. All bedrooms have air conditioning. Heating is available throughout the villa for cooler months.
Outside, the private pool (4 x 10m, 1.70m deep) sits within the estate grounds, with three sun loungers alongside. A BBQ is available for outdoor cooking.
Sit on the terrace as the estate settles into evening, and the Dão stretches out around you in every direction.
Guest access
The Quinta is all yours during your stay for optimal privacy and space.

Private parking is available on the estate grounds, with easy access from the entrance gate.

The neighborhood
Vila Mea is a small village in Carregal do Sal, in the Dão wine region of Central Portugal, close to what is considered the geographic centre of the country. The surrounding landscape is shaped by vineyards, cork oak, and pine, with the Serra da Estrela mountains visible to the east.
The Dão is one of Portugal's oldest and most respected wine appellations. Small family quintas along the local roads offer wine tasting directly from the source, and the region also has a strong tradition of sheep's cheese, smoked meats, and traditional bread. Markets and local shops in Carregal do Sal, a short drive away, cover everyday needs.
Viseu, a city with a lively historic centre and a strong dining scene, is the nearest major city. The Michelin-starred Mesa de Lemos restaurant sits within the Dão wine region itself, set on a vineyard estate in Santar. In Viseu city, Deraiz received its first Michelin star in 2026. Drive times to both should be confirmed via Google Maps from the property address before communicating to guests.
Coimbra and its university town centre are to the west. The Atlantic coast at Figueira da Foz, Portugal's oldest seaside resort, makes a realistic day trip. In winter, the Serra da Estrela offers skiing and dramatic mountain landscapes within an accessible drive.
Getting around
A car is essential for this location. The estate sits on a rural road outside Vila Mea, and public transport connections in the area are very limited.
Porto to the north and Lisbon to the south are both accessible via highway. Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport in Porto is the most practical entry point for international arrivals; Humberto Delgado Airport in Lisbon is the alternative. Drive times from both airports should be verified via Google Maps from the exact property address before communicating to guests.
Parking on the private estate is included and straightforward.

➤ Check-in time: 16:00-22:00 (late arrival possible in consultation)
➤ Check-out time: before 10:00
➤ Smoking is not permitted inside the property. Smoking is allowed in outdoor areas.
➤ The pool is unfenced. Guests with young children should take appropriate precautions around the pool area at all times.
➤ The property has security cameras on the exterior, which will be deactivated during guests' stays, and an alarm system.
➤ Two dogs live on the property. They are cared for daily by the owner's staff and guests will have no responsibility for them, but please be aware of their presence.
ℹ SEF REQUIREMENTS. All property owners in Portugal are legally required to report guest information to Serviço de Estrangeiros e Fronteiras (SEF). A week before arrival, we will send you a link to our SEF form to complete before your stay. This is a mandatory legal requirement.
