The space

Picture breakfast on the balcony with the first light of the day, looking out over the rooftops of Lagos towards the bay. Primeira Luz is a contemporary apartment in a building completed in 2025, finished with natural tones, original artwork and a calm, light-filled feel. It sleeps 4 guests.

The front door opens straight into the open-plan living area, with the kitchen on your right. The kitchen is fully equipped with Bosch appliances, including an oven, stove, microwave, dishwasher and coffee maker, and the dining table seats the whole group. Sliding glass doors lead from the living room to the large northeast-facing balcony, which runs along the apartment and catches the morning sun. Out here you have a dining table for outdoor meals and a lounge set for slow evenings.

A short hallway off the living area leads to the bedrooms. On the right is a bathroom with a walk-in shower and toilet. Opposite is the second bedroom with two single beds (90x200 cm), placed together and possible to set up separately, plus its own door to the balcony. At the end of the hallway is the main bedroom with a king-size bed (180x200 cm), an en-suite bathroom with walk-in shower, and balcony access as well.

Each room has a smart touch panel on the wall to control the lights, blinds and curtains. Both bedrooms have their own air-conditioning unit and the living area has built-in air conditioning, while underfloor heating keeps the apartment comfortable in the cooler months. There is a TV in every room, Sonos speakers in the apartment, fast wifi and a washing machine and dryer.

When the sun comes up over the bay, you will understand where the name comes from.

The neighborhood

Lagos is a popular coastal town in the Algarve, known for its dramatic cliffs, golden beaches and a charming old town where traditional architecture meets lively café culture. Guests come for surfing, kayaking, boat tours to the sea grottos, hiking and biking, or simply to enjoy the beach and an evening stroll along the waterfront.

Primeira Luz sits in the residential Ameijeira area on the southern side of town, about 15 minutes on foot from both the old town and Praia da Batata, and around 20 minutes from Praia do Camilo. Minimercado Familiar is a 5-minute walk away, with SPAR Ponta da Piedade just beyond it and the large Intermarché a 2-minute drive. Keep one evening free for the cliff walk to Ponta da Piedade, about 30 minutes from the door and at its best around sunset.

Getting around

Faro Airport is about a 1-hour drive. Lagos train and bus station is a 5-minute drive away, with connections to Faro and Lisbon. The old town and the nearest beaches are within walking distance, but a car is recommended if you want to explore the wider west coast and its beaches.

➤ Check-in from 16:00. Keybox at the property; code in your Rental Valley guide (sent 7 days before arrival). Early check-in is subject to same-day availability, contact us on arrival day to check, though this is limited in peak season. Arrivals after 22:00 are at the guest’s own risk as our support line will be closed.
➤ Check-out by 10:00. Late check-out is subject to next-day availability, contact us the day before departure to check. Limited in peak season.
➤ Lights, blinds, curtains and air conditioning are operated through the touch panel in each room. Instruction videos are included in your Rental Valley guide.
➤ The pool, sauna and fitness centre are shared with other residents of the complex.
➤ Smoking and vaping are not allowed inside or on the balcony. Pets are not allowed.
