We enjoyed our stay here. There is a nice view from the terrace, during the day as well as at night. The property could do with some more mosquito protection. We could not leave the bedroom windows open at night and were torn by either being sleepless from being too warm or from being kept awake by mosquitos. Though they responded quickly to our messages, the company managing the property seemed a little out of touch with the place. Garbage bins were not there, one of the keys in the deposit box was broken, and items they told us were not available in the property turned out to be there after all. So overall, good stay, but could with a bit of lovin’ and better mosquito defenses.

We loved our time in Salema. The villa was even better than expected. In a beautiful secluded place away from the busy towns. Beautiful beaches are a short walk or car journey away and the villa has great views. I would recommend having a car to visit all the incredible local sites and food spots. Fantastic stay and would love to come back

Positive: L’emplacement proche de la plage et le confort des pièces Negative: Manque un lave vaisselle ! Trop de vent, impossible de pouvoir utiliser la terrasse. Attention !!! Pas de parking et la rue est un véritable chantier …et manque d’étanchéité sur la porte de l’étage qui laisse toute sorte d’insecte. Enfin pas de connexion TV .

Negative: Too many bugs which made the outdoors unusable and therefore unable to open the windows at night making it very hot inside with a struggling air conditioner for only the living room. No fans available for the bedrooms. Bathrooms were clean, but musty smelling.

Basic home with no soap, no shampoo, no paper towels, no laundry tabs, etc. Bugs (flying bugs, beetles, spiders, ants) were everywhere throughout the stay and everyday at least 20 beetles would fall down the stairs and die, so it was a minefield in the morning to get downstairs without stepping on them. Rest of the house is basic and meets the needs, but I would not plan cooking while staying there. I didn’t even want to use any of the possible ways to heat water for tea and used a cup in the microwave instead. Overall, I would equate to a hostel, but a private home version.

Hi Kyle, thank you for your review. We take all feedback seriously and regret that our house did not live up to your expectations. Simply for future reference, I would encourage you to mention any issues that you experience during your stay, so that it might be resolved while you are still there. We take our guets' hapinness seriously and would have assisted where we could! We will check the kettle and kitchen inventory to see if changes are required. For future guests, please note that the house is in the country side. This has mostly advantages but it does mean a higher chance of mosquitos, flies etc. They come and go and if it gets really bad you can always contact us to see if anything can be done, but it is part of the Portuguese countryside and cannot be completely prevented.

The house was clean, spacious and comfortable and all the equipment was as described. However, the surroundings didn't match the expected and there were a lot of constructions in the area. There's no Seaview since the house is facing north, so don't expect sunny mornings or afternoons.

Overall we were very happy with our stay. This house was an amazing home base for adventuring all over Algarve. The beds were comfortable and there were plenty of supplies to cook and live. The host mentions a bit of dampness in the description which we also experienced. There was a degree of mustiness in some areas of the house that activated some of my allergies. The boiler wasn’t working when we first arrived which I believe caused/exacerbated some of the dampness issues, so we weren’t able to have hot water for the first day. The host was extremely responsive and quick to fix the issue. Other than that, amazing stay. We enjoyed spending time all over Algarve and returning to this comfortable home.

Cozy house with great facilities and rustic Charme! Check-in, cleanliness, and service are without critique. Some irritation ensued around a new construction site close by, that compromises the "alone feel". At least from the pictures it was also not clear that the house is mostly facing north which is great in summer but we felt chilly in March.

Amazing little place with stunning views across the gently rolling hills of the Western Algarve - and the ocean if you peek around the corner. Big enough for a single family, as advertised. Location is perfect for the numerous south and west coast beaches! In terms of amenities a bit basic for the price we paid (high season), couple quick fixes will do the trick. If maintained well, this place will continue to be great!

Koen and Nicky's villa was a beautiful and luxurious home for our vacation. We took advantage of the sun-soaked upper porch and lower patio every day, with their lovely views and easy access to all of the Algarve landscape and colorful bougainvillea. All of our needs were anticipated -- from comfy and clean communal spaces, to spacious and well-placed bathrooms, super comfy beds, and a working kitchen -- making us feel extra at home.

The coldest place in the Algarve
Despite all the efforts of the wonderful team of Rental Valley, this house was a disaster from day one. We were staying there from November 1 till 21. The cold season. And cold and moist is what this house is all about. It is situated that you only have a few hours of sun in the morning. The rest of the day it’s totally in the shadows. When the wind blows from the North (the coldest winds) it lies totally exposed … Upon our arrival the central heating blew and even after several tries to have it repared, it still wouldn’t work. So we tried to heat the house with the two electrical heaters, because wood for the fireplace was only brought on November 15 … Anything you’d expect from a house away from home wasn’t met: coziness, warmth, a bit of sun and a nice view … it just wasn’t there. On top of that, they are building a house right nextdoor and WiFi coverage was really poor. So unfortunately no recommendations from us for this Salema House with Valley view!
